Parent Series Index: State Savings Banks
Main
Description of Series
Records from the state savings banks of Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia that amalgamated with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia between 1913 and 1931. In addition, records from the Moreton Bay Savings Bank were transferred to the Queensland Government Savings Bank when it closed in 1865 and were part of the records passed to the Commonwealth Bank on its amalgamation of the Queensland Government Savings Bank in 1920.
Each series within the State Savings Bank parent series comprises the records created by a savings bank during the course of their work. The sub-series within each series indicate both the types of records produced and the location of any branches whose records we hold.
