Oral History interview with Dr Stephen Grenville, who served 19 years at the Reserve Bank of Australia, including his final five years as Deputy Governor.
Dr Grenville commenced at the Bank in 1982 and held senior positions in Economic Group, International Department and Domestic Markets Department. During the 1990s he worked at a senior level at the Bank during the design and implementation of the Bank’s inflation targeting framework and was extensively involved in the Bank’s response to the Asian Financial Crisis. He served as Deputy Governor from 1996 to 2001.

Dr Grenville also worked at the Department of Foreign Affairs and at the OECD in Paris. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree with Honours from the University of Sydney and a PhD in Indonesian Economics from Australian National University.
